The Skinny

Rachel is an exuberant, compassionate, and meticulous yoga teacher living in Vancouver, BC.  She began practicing in 1998 and fell in love with yoga’s capacity to heal, nurture, and transform the body and the mind.  Continually advancing her studies, she has earned 500-hour level certifications from both ISHTA and Yoga Works (both YA recognized).  An instructor in 200-hour trainings in Canada and the US, she is honored and thrilled to share in the journey of aspiring teachers.  Her classes combine alignment, breath, and a devilish sense of humor.  Her teaching is continually evolving and she enthusiastically shares this passionate journey with her students.

“Very simply, I practice and teach yoga because I always leave class better than when I began. Every time.”

A bit of a renaissance woman, Rachel earned her BA from Columbia University (Magna Cum Laude/ Phi Beta Kappa) and her MFA in Acting from the American Conservatory Theatre.  She has appeared internationally in television as well as in the black box theatres of New York City and Vancouver.  She has taught in such prestigious institutions as the Tisch School of the Arts (MFA), Columbia University (MFA), the Public Theatre Shakespeare Lab, and the Stella Adler Conservatory.  She has written for the History Channel, Fathom Knowledge Networks, Plank Magazine, the New York and Vancouver Fringe Festivals, and blogs regularly.  Read more about her artistic endeavors.

The Irreverent Yogi

Rachel is developing “The Irreverent Yogi” series of podcasts and videos to bring practical yoga to everyday people.  She believes that yoga offers every body – no matter what age, creed, or flexibility – pragmatic tools for feeling better, breathing better, and living better. Whether you can indulge in an hour-long practice or can just grab five minutes of quiet before the kids come home, yoga will improve your life.

Breathe.  Move.  Feel.  Better.  It’s that simple.
