True health comes from the inside out: Everything you are looking for you have right now.
Everything you need to truly be well has already been provided to you. If you want health, educate yourself, but be careful to not concentrate too heavily on disease. Believe in your body, and be aware that health assistance provided from the outside should facilitate who you are and what you have. Many interventions attempt to modulate disease by over-riding your innate intelligence instead of facilitating what is already “right” inside you. Although disease modulation is at times necessary — in fact it may be critical [read more...]
If you practice hatha yoga, you’re no doubt familiar with this scenario: You’ve had an invigorating and inspiring practice session in which your mind was totally focused on your body and your breath. By the time you’re done, you have a deep sense of peace and relaxation that seems to pervade every cell. You feel centered, balanced, in touch with yourself. You vow not to let this feeling slip away as the day progresses.
But halfway through the work day, you’re overwhelmed by the press of urgent e-mails and encroaching deadlines, and you’ve completely lost the connection and composure you had. Even [read more...]
Here are six tips on Happiness from someone with a great message.
Six Happiness Tips
Advice from Tal Ben-Shahar
* 1. Give yourself permission to be human. When we accept emotions — such as fear, sadness, or anxiety — as natural, we are more likely to overcome them. Rejecting our emotions, positive or negative, leads to frustration and unhappiness.
* 2. Happiness lies at the intersection between pleasure and meaning. Whether at work or at home, the goal is to engage in activities that are both personally significant and enjoyable. When this is not feasible, make sure you have happiness boosters, moments throughout the week [read more...]

What is yoga? In this ten-minute segment, Mark – with his typical directness and humor – clarifies the purpose of yoga and exhorts us to participate with authenticity and intimacy in our own lives. it’s not to use the mind
it’s not to use the body to try to get somewhere

I love this message from Aadil. How often do we “buck up” and “put on our game face?” Or when we convince ourselves that something doesn’t bother us because we’re reeeeeaaaaally hoping that it will go away?
Because I want to be a positive person, I have often found myself glossing over something dark in order to try to play the part of enlightened person. (“This shouldn’t bother me,” my inner voices clamor insistently. “Haven’t I been doing yoga so I’ll get over this stuff?”) The real tragedy is that we neglecting our authenticity. Start releasing fear by reaching out and beginning to talk freely and expressively, about feeling afraid. If this seems impossible because you have been taught that fear is a sign of weakness, talk about that.
Guilt is a tremendous obstacle in this regard, and so is shame. But an opening must be found, and I believe the following steps are effective:
Be with your fear, seeing it as a bodily sensation. Think of this sensation as rooted in old energies that have been stored up. Ask that pent-up energy to flow out of your body. Assist this flow until [read more...]
