Learning Objectives

By the end of these four lessons, your students will be able to:

Pranayama One (90 minutes):

  • Define prana
  • Define “pranayama”
  • Describe the benefits of pranayama
  • Describe the three parts of the breath
  • Teach a counted pranayama exercise to a partner

Pranayama Two (90 minutes):

  • Define kriya
  • Teach kapalabhati to a partner
  • Demonstrate three mudras
  • Teach jalandhara bandha
  • Teach mula bandha
  • Teach a simple counted breath with mula and jalandhara bandha

Pranayama Three (90 minutes):

  • Practice and describe uddiyana bandha
  • Teach viloma to a group of 3-4 students
  • Teach ujjayi to a group of 3-4 students

Pranayama Four (90 minutes):

  • Teach nadi shodhana to a group of 3-4 students
